Although the Holocaust is over its effects are still around today.

The Aryan look is still the ideal. According to the media.

Today

Even today slavery mentality still goes on. Light is best &

Dark is ugly. Long tame hair, small thin nose and light skin and eyes

are the desired.

Queen

Alex Haley's Queen is a movie of the 1993 book starring Halle Berry.

The film tells the life story of a young slave girl named Queen,

and illustrates the problems faced by bi-racial slaves in America.

Throughout her life Queen struggles to fit into the two cultures

of her heritage, and is at times shunned by both.

The story is based on the life of Haley's paternal grandmother Queen.

In times of slavery the lighter your skin the larger link you have

to the master allowing you to have privileges such as working in

the house or being more likely to be set free if your master died.

Being a lighter shade ment you had better chances of survival.

Quadroon

Someone who is one quarter Negro and three quarters Caucasian.

Quadroons are still considered black but almost look white.

Tend to have light hair and eyes with small features.

But have a slight tanned complexion due to their African decent.

Mulatto

Someone who is half Negro and half Caucasian.

Mulattos are said to be the most beautiful people in the world.

They are said to be the perfect blend. Not too light or dark.

Appealing to both black & white people.

Sambo

Someone who is a quarter Caucasian and three quarters Negro.

Sambo comes from the word Zambo. And became known as

the name of a black male in the 1700s.

It was also stereotype of the loyal, affectionate and child-like slave.

Negro

Someone who is of a full African decent.

Negros are considered as ugly and of less worth and mental capability

compared to a Caucasian person. Although they are thought to have

unbelievable athletic abilities and strength. You could say

this is a result of being bread like cattle

in hope of giving birth to a stronger super slave.

1800s

In 1833 it was after observing the gradations of colour

and their status, this comment was made

" A Quadroon looks down on a Mulatto, while a Mulatto

looks down on a Sambo thats is half Mulatto and half Negro"
